Block Paving Driveways
Laid to pattern on a full depth sub-base with edge restraints haunched in concrete. We are an accredited Marshalls Register contractor, so we lay their paving to their specification and register the work with them.
John and Michael O'Donnell lay block paving, patios and landscaping across York and the surrounding villages. Marshalls Register accredited, CHAS accredited, and still a father and son who turn up to quote the job themselves.

Most of our work is block paving and patios for homes in York, but the same crew builds the walls, the fencing and the planting that finish the job off. One firm, one visit, one person answering for all of it.

Laid to pattern on a full depth sub-base with edge restraints haunched in concrete. We are an accredited Marshalls Register contractor, so we lay their paving to their specification and register the work with them.

Porcelain, sandstone and slab patios set on a full mortar bed with the falls worked out before anything is laid, so water runs away from the house rather than sitting in the joints.

Turf, planted borders, edging, steps and levels. We have a commercial landscaping arm as well, so a garden rebuild is ordinary work for us rather than something we squeeze in around the driveways.

Fence panels on concrete posts and gravel boards, brick retaining walls, piers and copings. The boundary usually gets rebuilt at the same time as the drive, and it costs less done together.
Anyone can print "Marshalls" on a van. The Marshalls Register is different: contractors are vetted, and it is what gates the long manufacturer guarantees homeowners are told to look for. We are on it. Ask any firm quoting your drive whether they are, and check.
Vetted and listed by Marshalls, the paving manufacturer whose products we lay most weeks of the year.
Health and safety pre-qualified to the standard commercial clients and local authorities ask for before they let anyone on site.
York Paving & Driveways Ltd, company number 09897047, incorporated 1 December 2015. Directors John O'Donnell and Michael O'Donnell.
We run a commercial landscaping side and the Lansdowne Paving name alongside the domestic driveway work.
One of the larger drives we have laid this year, finished in the village eight miles north of York. Marshalls paving, laid by us, on a base built to carry it. Michael posted the photographs the day the crew packed up.
Every photograph on this page is our own work at a real address. No stock images and no catalogue shots.

Almost every sunken, cracked, weed-split drive in York failed for the same reason, and it is never the blocks. Somebody saved a day on the digging and covered it over. Here is what happens under ours.
The old surface and the soft ground beneath it come out and go on the wagon. Nothing gets raked to the side and buried under your new paving.
Sub-base laid and whacked in layers rather than tipped in one thick lift. This is the part that carries the car for the next twenty years, not the blocks on top.
Edge restraints haunched in concrete and the falls and drainage set out before a single block goes down, so the edges cannot creep and the water has somewhere to go.
Paving laid to pattern, jointed, vibrated and swept, the site cleared, and we walk the finished job with you before the van leaves the street.
Fifty families in and around York have written about the work after we finished and left. We would rather you read them in their own words on Google than take our word for any of it. Read every one before you call anybody.
Read our Google reviewsThere is no cost for the visit and no pressure afterwards. If our price is not the one you go with, that is fine. You will at least know what the job actually involves.
We are a York firm and we work close to home. If your street is not listed, ring and ask, because it usually is.
